Support for Disabled Children in Uganda and Ghana
Living in a world of stigma and isolation, many of our disabled children and their parents had given up on having a decent life and contributing to society.
IMET2000 not only supports physical needs such as wheelchairs but care, advocacy and education in particular bringing families together in monthly meetings where the children can play together and the parents share their anxieties and problems.
In Ghana the special needs awareness programme has been a great success and is mainly organised by parents and carers. In Uganda in our orphanage disabled children are fully integrated into the education and domestic activities and recently went on safari with the other children and enjoyed seeing a whole new world outside their local village and community.
